"My Vision- Corruption Free India" Vigilance Awareness Week(30-10-2017 to 4-11-2017)

The Central  Vigilance  Commission, as part of its efforts to promote probity in public life and to achieve a corruption free society, observes  Vigilance Awareness Week  every year. The  week  in which 31st October, the birthday of late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel falls is observed as  Vigilance Awareness Week . The 2017 Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) will be observed by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) from 30th October to 4th November, 2017 with theme “My Vision-Corruption Free India”  ("मेरालक्ष्य - भ्रष्टाचारमुक्तभारत"). The Vice President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu will be the Chief Guest at the Inaugural Function to be held on 30th October 2017. The purpose of observing VAW is to educate the public at large about the corruption related practices and also educating them how to report about it. Artificial Sun installed on the banks of Brahmaputra for Chhath Puja

Guwahati, October 26: Surya Gold Cement, the popular cement brand of North-East; Dainik Purvoday, the leading Hindi Daily of North-east; Digital News Media TIME8 and local organization Yuva Bhartiya Sangha, Guwahati have installed a gigantic artificial sun on the banks of Mighty Brahmaputra on the occasion of Chhath Puja during 26-27 October. Around 200 halogen lights have been assembled on a large bamboo structure of height over 60 feet in circular shape resembling the light source glowing with hope and optimism about a high-tech and sustainable future. Artificial sun was today inaugurated by Assam State BJP President Ranjeet Kumar Dass in the presence of a large number of devotees just before the evening Arghya. Later DC, Kamrup (Metro) Dr. M. Abdul Kalam ,  in full  Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam  (born October 15, 1931, Rameswaram, India—died July 27, 2015, Shillong), Indian scientist and politician who played a leading role in the development of India’s missile and nuclear weapons programs. He was president of India from 2002 to 2007. Kalam earned a degree in aeronautical engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology and in 1958 joined the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). He soon moved to the Indian Space Research Organisation, where he was project director of the SLV-III, India’s first indigenously designed and produced satellite launch vehicle.
