Artificial Sun installed on the banks of Brahmaputra for Chhath Puja
Guwahati, October 26:
Surya Gold Cement, the popular cement brand of North-East; Dainik Purvoday, the leading Hindi Daily of North-east; Digital News Media TIME8 and local organization Yuva Bhartiya Sangha, Guwahati have installed a gigantic artificial sun on the banks of Mighty Brahmaputra on the occasion of Chhath Puja during 26-27 October. Around 200 halogen lights have been assembled on a large bamboo structure of height over 60 feet in circular shape resembling the light source glowing with hope and optimism about a high-tech and sustainable future. Artificial sun was today inaugurated by Assam State BJP President Ranjeet Kumar Dass in the presence of a large number of devotees just before the evening Arghya. Later DC, Kamrup (Metro) Dr. M. Angamuthu, IAS also graced the occasion. East Guwahati MLA Siddhartha Bhattacharya inaugurated the cultural ceremony in which singers from Bihar sang Bhojpuri and Chhath Puja songs.
Commenting on this initiative, Dr. Angamuthu said that Guwahati is changing very fast and this art installation named “Sun of Change” promises a better future for Guwahatians in days ahead. He said that district administration is fully committed to welfare and overall development of people of Guwahati. He extended warm greetings of Chhath Puja to all the devotees.
Commenting on this occasion, Madhur Agarwala, Managing Director, Surya Gold Cement said that their brand name is related to Surya and Chhath Puja is about worshipping the Sun God, so they decided to celebrate this occasion in innovative way and in this scale.
Utpal Kanta, CEO cum Economic Editor of Dainik Purvoday and Managing Editor of TIME8 thanked district administration, Surya Gold Cement management and members of organizing committee of Yuva Bhartiya Sangha for all the support in converting this noble concept into a reality.
Expressing joy over this grand initiative special invitee BJP spokesperson Pramod Swami said that this is the perhaps the first time in the world that an artificial sun in form of such a beautiful art installation has been installed during the Chhath Puja.
Chhath Puja is an ancient Hindu festival dedicated to the Sun and his wife Usha in order to thank them for bestowing the bounties of life on earth and to request the granting of certain wishes. Every year Chhath Puja is celebrated on the banks of Brahmaputra by the devotees.
